Symptom: When starting up the program you receive a message that states "Your primary display does not seem to support 1024x768 resolution at 32 bits. Continue anyway?"

Why?: Your computer does not have the proper graphics driver or the program cannot not read the resolution of your desktop.

  1. First check your DirectX Diagnostic Tool by clicking the Start button, typing dxdiag in the Search box, and then pressing ENTER
  2. Click on the Display tab to view the DirectX Features. Both DirectDraw Acceleration and Direct3D Acceleration must be Enabled in order for the program to display properly.
  3. If they are Not Available, then you will need visit the computer manufacture website and download an updated or the latest graphics driver.
  4. If your computer meets the above requirements and still is presenting the message you may want to try adjusting the resolution contained in the Prefs.ini file located in the "Documents" directory. Once that file is open you will see the default resolution of 1024x768, you may update that to the current resolution of your desktop if the resolution is much higher.

Update 10/26/2015: A customer also found  a half screen black. The same holds true, the 1024 x 768 resolution at 32 bits, enabling Direct draw and Direct 3D Acceleration makes all the difference. This customer had all external video cards - so making sure your video drivers are updated is job one.
