Type to Learn: Pre-Test
The Type to Learn Diagnostic Pre-test is designed to assess and place a student at the appropriate keyboarding level. The Pre-Test consists of 16 steps. Pre-test Goals (accuracy & WPM) are set at Step 1, then increase at step 5 and again on step 10. Each step assesses a different set of keys to correctly level the student.
- Steps 1-4 Goal (Accuracy = 95, WPM = 15)
- Steps 5-9 Goal (Accuracy = 95, WPM = 17)
- Steps 10-16 Goal (Accuracy = 95, WPM = 20)
Each step is set to either pass or fail based on the current pre-test goal. If the student passes a step they will automatically be set to a higher level. The following is the list of levels that correspond to passing each step. The assigned lesson is set based on what step is failed first.

At the end of the Pre-test, the average WPM and Accuracy are written to the report. This final score does NOT determine placement.
